Video for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor

Honorable Justice Sotomayor:

On behalf of Jordan School District, I am thrilled to invite you to visit our District and speak to our amazing students and teachers.

We are prepared to make the most of every moment during your visit. Your presence would inspire our students and staff, reinforce our district’s ongoing commitment to civic education, and provide an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Sharing your experiences and thoughts would motivate students to engage more deeply in their communities and would fuel our efforts to cultivate informed, ethical citizens.

Jordan School District is a vibrant community with 57,000 students and 9,000 employees, including 3,700 dedicated teachers across 68 schools. We take pride in our diverse student body, with 67 languages spoken and numerous refugees attending our schools, hoping to build a better life in America.

The state of Utah is known for its spirit of volunteering and service and deeply values civic education as a cornerstone of our curriculum. The new social studies curriculum being adopted by the State is written by Jordan School District educators and includes a lesson on your life and your extraordinary path to becoming a United States Supreme Court Justice.

We invite you to visit on any date and time that might work with your busy schedule. September is celebrated in Utah as “American Founders and Constitution Month,” but we are ready to welcome you whenever your schedule permits.

My staff and I will create a smooth, safe, and well-coordinated visit. We will work closely with your staff regarding all travel arrangements. Security will be provided in partnership with our local law enforcement.

The point of contact for this event is Sandra Riesgraf, Director of Communications. She can be reached at 801-503-7018 or sandra.riesgraf@jordandistrict.org.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to make this request. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Signed: Anthony Godfrey
